'Good communication works best if we speak the same language. 

Natural ecosystems, including our cells, are no different. They have their own unique ways of communicating with each other. To be effective, cells need enough energy to broadcast their messages. The message has to be complete and clear. It has to be well formed and appropriate so other cells can understand and respond. 

When important issues are at stake, like fighting an infection or detoxifying noxious chemical pollutants that hitchhiked along with our meal, specialized cells have to work together to get their messages across so the job gets done right.
